Our mission statement: "We are united to provide educational opportunities for lifelong learning."

Dolphin Academics

Sunset Middle School has a student population of 635 students in grades seven and eight.  Our day begins at 8:30am and end at 3:00pm.  There is a total of 37 certified and classified staff members.  Beginning with the 2002/2003 school year, Sunset will have a full time counselor.  Administratively there is a full time assistant principal and principal.

There are numerous elective classes offered during the seven period day.  For example, we have fish/wildlife, hunter's safety, chess, web design, school newspaper, yearbook, wood shop, home economics, art, drama/film, careers, PowerPoint, band/choir, technology class, and accelerated reader.

We will use data from the Spring 2001 and 2002 Oregon Statewide Assessments results to help us plan our academic programs and to set school-wide goals.  These scores represent Millicoma Middle School's and Sunset Middle School's combined assessment results.
The intent of the staff at Sunset Middle School is to provide students with an excellent education and as many various elective classes and extracurricular activities as possible to make them well rounded individuals.
